Plymouth Rock is pleased to announce an exhibition of Miriam Laura Leonardi. This is the artist’s first solo exhibition. Working in photography, video and sound; Leonardi has carved out a substantial body of work that addresses complex questions regarding the relationships between participants in life and culture: and especially the observer and the observed.

 

With MODELS Leonardi has created an installation exploring the physical and communicative properties of public presentation of actions and speech (visually, textually, audibly etc). By placing these together Leonardi draws messages out of each sense, creating fusions that confuse traditional interactions and unspoken message transmission. For MODELS Leonardi will present two video works, a sound piece and two text based works in Plymouth Rock’s space .

 

Miriam Laura Leonardi (b. 1985, lives and works in Zurich) has recently been included in ‘Vorhemdchen und Stahlfedern’ (curated by Martin Jaeggi and Jorg Scheller),Galerie 201, Zurich; and DOOM (curated by Thomas Julier), Eichhalde 16, Zurich.
