LOUISA GAGLIARDI

On a day like this

February 25 - April 6, 2018

Opening Saturday, February 24   19:00 - 22:00

In layers and folds, canopies, crusts and perceptive depictions Louisa builds images and narratives of the daily. Her work is about moments, captured before they shift, frozen before they have stabilized into their final form. Before the rain ruins a perfect picnic. Before we suffocate the natural world completely. After we’ve aged one more second, but not a point more.  Here she expands into the third dimension, but it’s been there. Or, rather, these new works are drawings as well. Between sculpture and painting is a visualized sameness, physical objects just conspicuous enough. The trace of the body’s creation hides behind a digital output. Rendering is drawing. Sewing is drawing. Lines cross material real and projected. They’re tied together by someone.
